Retail Bus Material Collection explores the design potential of reclaimed everyday materials. Developed from discarded PVC floor mats traditionally used in Colombian buses, the collection transforms an industrial, high-wear material into a series of durable and functional tote bags.
The pieces represent one of my earliest experiments with patchwork techniques applied to heavy-duty materials, investigating the structural, aesthetic, and constructive possibilities of modular assembly. This collection marked the beginning of my long-term commitment to upcycling, anticipating a design practice centered on material innovation, circularity, and the creative revaluation of discarded resources.
Retail Bus Material Collection explora el potencial del diseño a partir de la reutilización de materiales cotidianos. Desarrollada con retazos de tapetes de PVC provenientes de buses tradicionales colombianos, la colección transforma un material industrial de alto desgaste en una serie de bolsos tipo tote de gran resistencia y funcionalidad.
Las piezas constituyen una de las primeras experimentaciones con técnicas de patchwork aplicadas a materiales pesados, investigando las posibilidades estructurales, estéticas y constructivas del ensamblaje modular. Esta colección marcó un punto de partida en mi práctica de diseño orientada hacia el suprarreciclaje (upcycling), anticipando un interés sostenido por la innovación material, la economía circular y la resignificación de materiales en desuso.
