Stockholm - 2022
Designed and handcrafted in Västertorp, Stockholm, the Christmas Series 2022 is an intimate capsule collection of six unique handbags that reflects my ongoing exploration of material memory, textile heritage, and circular design. The collection is made from carefully sourced vintage lace lingerie and antique embroidered table linens recovered from second-hand shops and textile discard containers across Stockholm. Rather than deconstructing these textiles, I sought to preserve their original forms, delicate textures, scalloped edges, and romantic character, allowing their previous lives to remain visible in each piece.
To provide structure and durability, each bag is constructed using reclaimed cotton cushion covers from IKEA, creating a dialogue between domestic textiles from different periods and contexts. Every handbag is accompanied by a recovered vintage crochet keychain, reinforcing the collection's nostalgic character while extending the life of handmade objects. Inspired by Sweden's rich traditions of embroidery, openwork, lace-making, and domestic textile craftsmanship, the collection pays tribute to generations of women whose knowledge and labor have shaped the country's textile heritage. By transforming discarded textiles into contemporary objects, Christmas Series 2022 explores craft as a practice of preservation, care, and cultural continuity, demonstrating how urban textile waste can be reimagined as carriers of memory, identity, and artisanal knowledge.
